Image
What is Maqasid Al-Shariah? The topic of this week's lesson is very interesting which is Maqasid Al-Shariah πŸ’š From my understanding, 'Maqasid' is originated from an Arabic term, which means principles, objectives, purpose. Meanwhile, 'Al-Shariah' is also an Arabic term with the meaning of Islamic law. So basically, Maqasid Al-Shariah is about the objectives or principles of Islamic Law, which encompasses the aspects of Akidah, Ibadah and Akhlak to achieve human well-being physically and spiritually. Maqasid Al-Shariah plays a role in maximizing goodness/benefits (maslahah), and preventing harm (mafsadah) to the life of human beings. The objectives of the Shari’ah can be divided into three, namely the essentials or necessities (daruriyyat), the needs (hajiyyat) and the complementary (tahsiniyyat).  ➤ 'The utmost objective of Shariah is to promote and protect the well-being of people and nature, which lies in the safeguarding of five fundamental objectives of Sha...

The Problem of Racial Unity in Malaysia Assalamualaikum W.B.T,  For this week, we have been enlightened about the Issues of Sustainable Development in Malaysia. One of the critical and never-ending issues that frequently raised among the community in this country is the problem of racial unity. This is indeed a very serious matter that affecting sustainable development in this country and should be taken seriously by all Malaysians. Malaysia consists of various races with the main three races, which are Malay, Chinese and Indian. The life of a multi-racial society in Malaysia makes this country more developed, harmonious, and strong when all races are united. However, the problem of racial unity is still inevitable.  The issues between these races are not only occurring from the social aspect but often occur in political and economic matters too. Religious and cultural differences are among the main reasons for the emergence of issues and disputes between these races. I believ...

Islam & Environmental Sustainability Hello everyone! Welcome back to my blog πŸ™ˆ In week 2, we learned about Islam and Sustainable Development, which consists of three main subtopics, which are Islam and Environmental, Social, and Economic Sustainability. So for this post, I'm eager to share and do the reflection on Islam and Environmental Sustainability. Islam teaches its believers to sustain and protect the environment as it is a part of the fundamentals in Islam, in which human beings must maintain the relationship with the environment besides the relationship with Allah and fellow human beings. Environmental sustainability and preservation are very emphasized and concerned in Islam in order to create a harmonious, comfortable, and balanced atmosphere on earth. Back to my previous post which I've shared about the environment around my house, there is a lot of trees and flowers. As you can see from the pictures, the trees and flowers grow lush and beautiful. It is because ...

W1: Introduction to Sustainable Development

Image
What is Sustainable Development? In this first week, we have been taught about the introduction to Sustainable development. From this topic, I want to share the definition of Sustainable development and its goals because I think these two are the most important thing in this topic, and everyone must be clear about it. So firstly, what is sustainable development actually means? Sustainable means 'able to maintains', thus, Sustainable Development means 'development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.' From my own understanding, sustainable development is like a mission to develop a sustainable country from all aspects of the economy, politic, social, and others to fulfill the present generation's current needs by achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), without affecting the mission's of the future generation to meet their needs later. Since I'm currently at home due to ...

What is this blog about?

Actually, I'm not a blogger and far from a good blog writer because I'm not someone who likes to write about how were my days, my feelings, thoughts, and anything similar to them. Ever since I was a kid, I'm not interested to have a diary. I'm not a journal person because I do think that everything that I feel and think can't be described in words, plus there is a lot in my mind that even thousands of words are not enough to interpret them. However, I think I should start to love journaling now. For this semester, I'm taking a university-required course, which is named 'Sustainable Development: Issues, Principle and Practice' with code UNGS 1201. For this subject, we are assigned to write a reflective journal (blog) individually, where we need to write a reflection on every topic that has been taught in the class every week. So, here am I, trying to make an interesting and engaging blog to reflect my understanding of all the topics taught in this course....
